CC-01 Fundamentals of ClearCase®

Fundamentals of ClearCase® is a two-day course that provides the fundamental knowledge of Rational ClearCase® for the end-user. This course focuses on Version Control of Files and Directories, Workspace Management, Build Management, and Process Management. This comprehensive introductory course is designed to provide first-time users with practical, hands-on knowledge of everyday Rational ClearCase® commands and operations. The following topics are covered during this course

  • Basic Concepts of version control, release engineering and software configuration management
  • Basic ClearCase® operations.
  • Version control of Files and Directories
  • Dynamic and snapshot views
  • Parallel and Distributed development processes
  • Branching and how to merge across branches
  • Using ClearCase® Metadata

CC-02 ClearCase® Administration

ClearCase® Administration is designed for experienced Rational ClearCase® users and ClearCase® system administrators. This course takes the students through the phases of planning, implementation and support of ClearCase® environments. Upon completion of this course, the students will be certified to be able to perform as ClearCase® Administrators. This course covers the following topics.

  • ClearCase® Installation

  • Design Issues

  • Infrastructure planning

  • Setting up the ClearCase® environment

  • Security and Access Control

  • Creation, administration, and population of ClearCase® repositories

  • Backup and restore functions

CC-03 Understanding ClearCase® Metadata

In this course students learn about process and policy management through ClearCase® metadata tools. Understanding ClearCase® Metadata introduces users to the concepts of fine-tuning their use of Rational ClearCase to achieve specific team and/or project goals.

  • Designing and developing a process that works

  • Policy enforcement using triggers

  • Writing queries

  • Create and modify Rational ClearCase Metadata Automate communications

  • Monitoring the software development process

  • Global Metadata types and how to implement them


CC-04 Administering Clearcase Multisite

This course trains Clearcase administrators in planning and maintaining related to geographically distributed Software Configuration Management (SCM) installations. This course covers the following topics

  • Designing for parallel and distributed SCM environments

  • Set up and use MultiSite in UNIX and Microsoft® Windows NT® environments

  • The Store-and-Forward Facility

  • Understanding Masterships

PF-01 Fundamentals of Perforce

Designed for first time users, this course introduces the students to the concepts of software configuration managements and how to work with Perforce. The topics include:

  • Basic user operations: creating workspaces, working with files and changelists, submitting changelists, keeping workspaces in sync with the depot

PF-02 Administering Perforce

Administering Perforce focuses on SCM administrators, release engineers and build engineers. This course introduces the students to the planning and implementation of SCM policies using Perforce. The topics include:

  • Understanding depots, workspaces, and client view maps

  • Perforce implementation process

  • Security features in Perforce

  • System administration: installation, resource management, database checkpointing and recovery
