Parrus Technologies has product offerings that clients have found very useful. Through our work in the industry over the last 4 years, we have noticed a need for the following tools. These tools help companies accomplish tasks that would cost them a lot to try and implement from scratch. A lot of design and implementation time has been spent in developing these tools to make sure that they are scalable and meet customer quality requirements.
The CM Monitor tool has been developed for monitoring the system resource usage along with the network performance. This tool has been made specifically to work for companies that use Rational Clearcase. Clearcase is a network and system resources intensive product and constantly monitoring can help companies plan any changes that they need to make in advance so that they avoid any down time or loss in performance. With a tightly integrated web interface, monitoring is easy. Reports can be prepared in very short time. Email triggers can be set so that automatic notifications are sent out when preset levels of performance or system usage are reached.
The Parrus Smart Builder tool has been designed for software development in the Windows environment and works against version tools like Clearcase, VSS, Perforce and PVCS Version Manager. . The Smart Builder tool makes it easy to setup a build environment and automates the build process. Development managers, software engineers and QA personnel are always interesting in getting reports on the software builds done by the Build Engineers. A smart web interface is provided to take a look at the history of the builds, the quality of the builds along with the number of errors and warnings and also to drill down to the specific warning or error message. The interface provides an eagle's view of the various build statistics that would be of interest to Managers. Reports can be created on the different build statistics to help improve and maintain agreed upon standards. Improvements in software build quality and in the time to implement a top-down build configuration have helped clients shorten their software release cycles tremendously.
The Process Configurator tool consists of Clearcase triggers that have been developed by the Parrus Solutions Teams (PST) based on their experiences gained through several implementations at various client companies. Most of the Clearcase implementations have almost the same policy, process and security requirements based on which these set of triggers have been created. The Process Configurator tool has a smart interface that helps the Clearcase administrator or release engineer decide on the triggers that they would like to use and the VOBs to which they would like to apply the triggers. The tool can be fine tuned to work with any additional process requirements at any client site. Any company specific triggers can be incorporated into this tool. In companies that have multiple VOBs throughout their enterprise, this tool provides an easy interface to remove or apply triggers to current or new VOBs. Companies like the user friendly interface and also like the savings that can be had by using this tool rather than having to design, develop and test triggers in house. In the current software development life cycles and the aggressive schedules, this tool proves to be effective in helping companies implement change control processes using Rational Clearcase. |
